Chapter 1: A New World Beckons

The last thing Kaito remembered was the screech of tires, the blaring horn, and the blinding headlights rushing toward him.

“Ah… so this is how it ends?”

He had been crossing the street, headphones in, lost in the latest episode of DanMachi. Bell Cranel’s desperate fight against the Minotaur played in his ears—the roar of the monster, the clash of steel, the burning determination in Bell’s voice.

Then—impact.

Darkness.

And then…

Light.

—

Kaito gasped, his lungs filling with crisp, unfamiliar air. His fingers dug into soft grass, damp with morning dew. The scent of earth and wildflowers surrounded him.

“What the—?”

He sat up abruptly, his head spinning. The sky above was a brilliant blue, untouched by smog or city lights. Birds chirped in the distance, and a gentle breeze rustled through the trees.

“Where… am I?”

His last memory was the accident. The pain. The certainty of death.

And yet, here he was—alive.

He looked down at himself. He still wore his jeans and hoodie, but they were slightly torn, as if he’d been dragged through a forest. His phone was gone. His wallet too.

“Did I get isekai’d?!”

The thought sent a jolt of excitement through him. He had read enough light novels to recognize the signs.

But if this was another world… what kind was it?

—

Kaito stumbled forward, following a dirt path that led to a small village. The houses were rustic but well-built, with thatched roofs and wooden beams. People moved about—farmers carrying baskets, children chasing each other, merchants setting up stalls.

And then he saw them.

“Elves? Dwarves?!”

A tall, elegant woman with pointed ears carried a basket of herbs, her movements graceful. Nearby, a burly man with a thick beard laughed loudly, his voice booming.

“This isn’t just any fantasy world…”

His heart pounded.

A group of armored men walked past, their gear worn but well-maintained. One of them carried a sword strapped to his back.

Kaito hesitated, then called out.

“Excuse me!”

The men turned. The tallest, a gruff-looking warrior with a scar across his nose, raised an eyebrow.

“You lost, kid?”

Kaito swallowed. “Uh, yeah. Where… exactly am I?”

The man chuckled. “You’re in Rovia Village. Nearest big city’s Orario, ’bout two days’ walk east.”

“Orario?!”

Kaito’s breath caught.

No way.

“Wait… Orario, as in… the city with the Dungeon?”

The man’s expression shifted. “You’ve heard of it, huh? Yeah, that’s the one. Labyrinth City. Where all the adventurers and gods gather.”

Kaito’s hands trembled.

“DanMachi. I’m in DanMachi.”

—

The villagers were kind enough to give him a meal—a simple stew with bread—and directions to Orario. As he ate, he listened to their conversations.

“Another group of adventurers wiped out in the Dungeon last week…”

“Freya Familia’s been recruiting again. Heard they’re diving deep into the lower floors.”

“Takemikazuchi Familia’s still taking in anyone willing to train hard.”

Kaito’s mind raced.

“If this really is Orario… then the Falna exists. I can get stronger. I can become an adventurer!”

The thought sent a thrill through him. He had always dreamed of something like this—a world where strength meant something, where he could test his limits.

And now, it was real.

He finished his meal, thanked the villagers, and set off toward the rising sun.

“Orario… here I come.”

—

The journey took two days.

Kaito slept under the stars, drank from streams, and foraged what he could. His body ached, but the excitement kept him moving.

On the second day, he crested a hill—and there it was.

Orario.

The city sprawled across the horizon, a maze of streets and buildings dominated by the towering Babel, its peak piercing the sky. Even from this distance, he could see the bustling crowds, the colorful banners of Familias, the occasional flash of magic.

“It’s real. All of it.”

He grinned, his heart pounding.

“This is my chance. My adventure.”

—

The gates of Orario were massive, guarded by armored men who barely glanced at him as he passed through. The moment he stepped inside, the noise hit him like a wave.

“Fresh magic crystals! Straight from the Dungeon!”

“Healing potions! Get your healing potions here!”

“Loki Familia recruiting! Must be Level 2 or higher!”

Kaito weaved through the crowd, his eyes wide. Everywhere he looked, there were adventurers—some in gleaming armor, others in ragged cloaks, all carrying weapons.

He needed to find a Familia. Fast.

—

Kaito approached the first Familia he recognized—Hephaestus Familia. A blacksmith glanced at him, then shook his head.

“We don’t take rookies. Try someone else.”

Next was Demeter Familia.

“You ever farm before? No? Then no.”

Loki Familia outright laughed at him.

“You? Join us? Hah! Come back when you’re not a scrawny nobody.”

Kaito clenched his fists but didn’t argue. He knew how this world worked.

“I need to start somewhere.”

Then he remembered what the villagers had said.

“Takemikazuchi Familia takes anyone willing to train.”

—

The Takemikazuchi Familia home was a modest dojo on the eastern edge of the city. The sound of wooden swords clashing echoed from inside.

Kaito took a deep breath and stepped in.

The training hall was filled with disciples—some sparring, others meditating. At the far end stood a tall, stern-faced man with a topknot and piercing eyes.

Takemikazuchi.

The god noticed him immediately.

“You.” His voice was calm but carried authority. “Why are you here?”

Kaito met his gaze.

“I want to join your Familia.”

Silence fell.

Then Takemikazuchi smirked.

“Prove it.”
