Jack's arrival in HxH world - Chapter 3
Chapter 3: Bonds of Training
The morning sun rose over Whale Island, casting a golden glow across the beach. Jack woke up to the sound of waves gently lapping against the shore and the distant cries of seagulls. He stretched, feeling the ache in his muscles from yesterday’s intense training. Despite the soreness, he felt invigorated. His system had rewarded him well, and he was eager to push himself further.
As he sat up, he noticed a figure approaching from the direction of the village. It was Gon, carrying a basket in one hand and waving enthusiastically with the other.
“Jack!” Gon called out, his voice bright and cheerful. “I brought breakfast!”
Jack smiled and waved back. “Morning, Gon! You didn’t have to do that.”
Gon reached the camp and set the basket down, revealing a spread of fresh bread, fruits, and a thermos of hot tea.
“Aunt Mito said you might be hungry after camping out here. She’s really nice once you get to know her.”
Jack chuckled, though he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt. Mito’s stern expression from the day before still lingered in his mind.
“Thanks, Gon. This looks amazing.”
They sat down on the sand and dug into the food. The bread was warm and soft, and the fruits were sweet and refreshing. As they ate, Gon looked at Jack with curiosity.
“So, what are you planning to do today?” Gon asked.
Jack swallowed a bite of bread and grinned.
“More training. I’ve got a routine I want to stick to. It’s tough, but it’ll help me get stronger.”
Gon’s eyes lit up.
“Training? Can I join you? I’ve been looking for someone to train with!”
Jack hesitated for a moment, then nodded.
“Sure, why not? Training alone can get boring. But fair warning—my routine is pretty intense.”
Gon grinned.
“I can handle it! I’ve been training my whole life.”
Jack laughed. “Alright, then. Let’s see how long you can keep up.”
—
Jack explained his routine to Gon: 100 pushups, 100 situps, 100 squats, and a 10-kilometer run. He called it “Round 1,” and the goal was to see how many rounds they could complete in a day. Gon listened intently, his competitive spirit already ignited.
“Let’s do it!” Gon said, jumping to his feet.
They started with the pushups. Jack’s enhanced strength made the first few sets easy, but Gon’s stamina was nothing short of incredible. The 12-year-old boy moved through the exercises with ease, his movements fluid and precise. Jack couldn’t help but be impressed.
“You’re a machine, Gon,” Jack said, panting after finishing his 100th pushups.
Gon grinned. “Thanks! I’ve been doing this kind of stuff since I was little.”
Jack nodded, remembering Gon’s backstory. “Well, you’re definitely stronger than most people I know.”
After the pushups, they moved on to situps and squats. By the time they finished Round 1, both of them were sweating but still full of energy.
“Ready for Round 2?” Jack asked, grinning.
“You bet!” Gon replied.
They repeated the routine, pushing themselves harder with each round. Jack’s system notifications kept popping up, rewarding him with EXP for each completed quest. By the time they finished Round 4, Jack had leveled up again.

As for why he didn’t add rest of the stat points, because he wants to see how much he is compared to Gon in his current form. After this, he will only distribute point when he about to take Hunter exam.
Gon’s stamina was still unmatched. The boy seemed to have an endless supply of energy, and Jack couldn’t help but wonder what his stats would look like if he had a system like Jack’s.
—
As the sun began to set, casting a warm orange glow over the beach, Jack and Gon decided to end the day with a sparring match. They cleared a space in the sand and faced each other, both grinning with anticipation.
They circled each other for a moment, then Gon lunged forward with surprising speed. Jack barely managed to dodge, his enhanced reflexes kicking in just in time. He countered with a punch, but Gon ducked under it and swept Jack’s legs out from under him.
Jack hit the sand but rolled to his feet quickly. “Not bad, Gon!”
Gon grinned. “You’re pretty strong, Jack! But you’re not used to fighting, are you?”
Jack laughed. “You caught me. I’m more of a thinker than a fighter.”
They continued to spar, each testing the other’s limits. Jack’s superior strength gave him an edge, but Gon’s fighting instincts were razor-sharp. The match ended in a tie, with both of them collapsing onto the sand, laughing and exhausted.
—
After the sparring match, they decided to cook dinner. Gon had caught a wild boar earlier in the afternoon, and they roasted it over a fire. The smell of sizzling meat filled the air, and they ate hungrily, their bodies replenishing the energy they had burned during the day.
As they sat by the fire, Gon looked up at the stars and sighed. “Jack, can I tell you something?”
Jack nodded. “Of course, Gon. What’s on your mind?”
Gon’s expression grew serious. “I’m taking the Hunter Exam because I want to find my dad. He left when I was little, and I want to know why. I want to talk to him, to understand him.”
Jack felt a pang of sympathy. He knew Gon’s story, but hearing it from the boy himself made it feel more real. “That’s a big goal, Gon. But I think you can do it. You’re strong, and you’ve got a good heart. If anyone can find Ging, it’s you.”
Gon smiled, but there was a hint of sadness in his eyes. “Thanks, Jack. That means a lot.”
They sat in silence for a while, the crackling of the fire and the sound of the waves filling the night. Jack felt a sense of camaraderie with Gon, a bond that went beyond their shared training. They were both on a journey to become stronger, to find their place in the world.
