Chapter 20: Magneto and Professor X

This is a military base. The structure that appears on the surface is not conspicuous, but the scale of the underground is several times larger than the ground. It seems to have been converted from a missile silo.

At this time, in the center of the base where the missile was originally launched, a huge glass room was suspended in the air, and there was no metal within 100 meters around it.

Under the glass room, a device similar to a sound wave transmitter is installed. This device can create a special force field. Although it cannot completely suppress the power of Magneto, it can still be greatly weakened.

Otherwise, it would not be so easy to rely on such a glass room to trap Magneto.

The provider of this device is Professor X, an old friend of Magneto.

A passageway was opened at this time, and slowly connected to the glass room. Professor X moved the wheelchair and came to Magneto.

“Eric, I’m here to see you.”

“You know I don’t welcome you here, Charles.” Magneto fiddled with the chess in his hand, of course, made of glass.

“But I am here anyway.” Professor X came to the opposite side of Magneto.

Playing with the chess pieces, Magneto suddenly raised his head. “You’ll wake up in the middle of the night, worrying about the laws that unfairly harm you and your children and grandchildren?”

“Of course I do.” Professor X glanced at Magneto and nodded.

“Then what will you do when you wake up.” Magneto continued to ask.

“I will pity those ignorances, and those …” Professor X paused and gave a special glance at Magneto. “Those who are provocative.”

“Bang!” Magneto dropped the pawn and looked at Professor X.

“I wonder what you are doing here?”

“You knowingly ask, I’ll show you hope,” Professor X said, looking out of the glass room, and looked at Sam leaning on the side of the corner in a daze.

“Sam, okay, he may be. His abilities are perfect, powerful, and fascinating. Even if he hasn’t tapped his potential, he has reached this level. This is the fifth-level mutant.” Magneto stared at Sam, his eyes full of appreciation.

“I think Sam should let me teach. Only I can truly achieve him.”

“You know this is impossible, because you can only destroy him.”

“I destroyed him? It was you who destroyed him.” Magneto was excited when he heard it.

“You are a docile sheep, and you can only teach more sheep. Look at Jean Gray. What have you done to turn a fifth-grade mutant into one who only knows teaching in school? Do you want to do it again, little girl who plays house?”

This is where the conflict between Magneto and Professor X is the most fierce. Professor X wants to build a bridge between the mutants and ordinary people. However, in the view of Magneto, blind communication and friendship can not make mutants gain legal rights, but they will suffer more discrimination. At this time, only stand up and resist, only let them feel the pain and feel your power. They will be patient and communicate with you.

“Jean’s ability has flawed. She can’t control her ability like Sam. She can only bring destruction, not hope.” Professor X snarled at this moment.

“Charles, we need to show our minions, let those guys know how good we are, and never dare to offend us easily.” Magneto continued unwillingly.

“So you made the Liberty Island incident, and you almost messed up everything, that’s what you want.”

“I …” Facing the sudden hit of Professor X, Magneto froze for a moment, his expression suddenly darkened.

“I have to admit, that machine was a mistake.” Magneto eventually softened,

His philosophy is to allow mutants to obtain legal rights, and even to gradually replace humans in turn, to complete human leapfrogging evolution.

But if it kills the entire New Yorker, it will only make the mutant and the ordinary person endless war. The end result is that everything is destroyed, which is not what Magneto wants to see.

“What the hell is going on outside now.” Magneto looked up at Professor X.

“Progress is not bad. After Mystique escaped from Liberty Island, she disguised herself as Kelly and publicly opposed the Mutant Registration Act. Coupled with your aggressive actions on Liberty Island, the government has considered this bill more carefully. It has been put on hold temporarily,” Professor X explained.

“Oh, this is arguably the best news I’ve heard since I entered prison.”

“Eric, although I don’t like your approach, but I have to say that sometimes your approach is quite effective.” Professor X hesitated a moment, so he said to Magneto.

“But you sent me into this ghost place, and also helped them perfect the method of imprisoning me.” Magneto grasped the pawn and looked at Professor X with amused expression.

“Eric, I have no way. I need to give them an explanation and let them know that the mutants are just dissatisfied, not wanting to declare war! They will not easily kill you, because only you can control the Brotherhood mutants, Let them not come easily go wild.” Professor X explained helplessly.

“Come on, Charles, you don’t need to explain, because you and I understand that I didn’t blame you.” Magneto lost the chess piece and said indifferently.

He knew exactly where he and Professor X. Among the mutants, one needed to sing red faces, just as he needed him to sing white faces.

“Charles, do you think that mutants really have a future?” Silent for a while, Magneto’s face suddenly became darkened, which made him look like a twilight old man, nor was it frightening Magneto.

Magneto is a true fighter. For the rights of mutants, he has been fighting for more than half a century, but when he comes back to Magneto, he also finds that he is still stepping on the spot, and he is not even close to his ideal.

Although he did not know the miserable ending of the mutant in the future like Sam, but based on his accumulated experience of more than half a century, he was able to conclude that the future of the mutant was not bright.

Magneto is still fighting, unless he dies, he will not stop, but Magneto is really desperate. This despair even makes him sometimes want to launch a real war, letting the mutants and ordinary humans lose all their wounds.

“Eric, I don’t know if I can see the real hope, but I will never give up searching and trying, I hope you do too.” Professor X said he had controlled the wheelchair and walked out of the glass room.
